Confoederatio Benedictina Ordinis Sancti Benedicti| The Benedictine Confederation arose from the monastic congregations that, while retaining their individual autonomy, came together in a union sanctioned by Pope Leo XIII in his brief "Summum semper" and thereafter approved by his successors. Pope Pius XII expicitly ordered this union to be regulated by a Lex Propria, which was later revised after the second Vatican Council. | |

Sant'Anselmo | Sant'Anselmo in Rome is the centre of the Benedictine Confederation. Here the Benedictine abbots of the world meet every four years for the Confederation congress. Sant'Anselmo is the seat of the Abbot Primate; here reside the monks sent to Rome to teach or study (Collegio Sant'Anselmo) and here is the Benedictine university (Ateneo Sant'Anselmo). The College and the Athenaeum operate during the academic year, from October to June. In this section you'll find the latest news on the College and Athenaeum, photos of the whole institution, important dates, the Athenaeum study syllabuses and other important information. |
